Lisa’s Grilled Pizza

The recipe I wanted to share today involves one of my new found summertime favorites….

GRILLED PIZZA!!

Have you ever tried it or heard of it? I know it sounds crazy to cook pizza dough on the grill, but let me tell you how good this pizza is. ——————– IT’S SO GOOD!!!!

What I love is that the crust has a crunchy and grilled flavor on the outside, but the inside is so soft and chewy.

I also love how simple and easy it is to make. Let me show you!

First go ahead and let your dough come to room temperature and rise a little bit. I use Whole Foods pre-made whole grain dough. It’s so good and it’s only $2.99 for a 16oz container.

While your grill warms up over high heat, separate the dough into 2 pieces and flatten until 1\2 inch thick

Next, place the pizza dough halves on the grill and let cook for 4-5 minutes with the cover down.

Once the bottom is nice and crispy and the top starts to bubble, flip them over and place onto a cookie sheet.

Brush the grilled side of the dough with a little bit of olive oil and a sprinkle of salt.

Now you can add your toppings and place back on the grill. You’ll want to keep it simple and not put too many toppings. My favorite is shredded mozzarella cheese, fresh tomatoes & basil.

After another 4-5 minutes the pizza will be done and ready to eat!

Now, how quick and easy was that?!

This recipe will serve 4 as an entrée and 6-8 for appetizers. I hope you all enjoyed this recipe and give it a try. I’ll definitely be enjoying grilled pizza for all the summers to come!

  7. I recently try grilling pizza for the first time. I love the flavor it adds to the crust and the added crunch. Next time I’m going to try it in the Big Green Egg.
