Char’s Mission: Hiking!

First off, I would like to thank Cait for allowing me to do a guest post for her! I know you’re going to all miss her post, so I’ll try my best to keep you occupied for today!

Second, I’m Char and I blog over at ‘char on a mission’ (http://charonamission.wordpress.com/) where you can catch me blogging about life for me (ie: living a happy healthy life, and keeping on those missions)! When Cait had asked me what I wanted to talk about, the first thing that came to mind was, hiking. I’ve done my ‘research’ and gathered my ‘evidence’ so without further hesitation here’s what I have to say about it!

Since we’re in the prime of nice weather, long days, and working on those much needed tans, I thought I would talk about hiking. There are so many fun ways to get outside and be active, and this one especially appeals to me.

I enjoy it so much that I’m going to cover the reasons why I love/enjoy hiking and what I do while hiking. Hope you like it!

1. Very peaceful.

I don’t know about you, but something about being amongst the trees just makes everything so calm and peaceful. You feel so far away from civilization, so you can really enjoy it without thinking about anything else.

2. Finding crazy things.

You can find some pretty interesting stuff while you’re out on the trails. Take this tree for example, it should have fallen down, but thanks to a fellow tree, it is now casually leaning on him.

3. Stay hydrated!

Especially if you’re trying out a new trail. You always want to be prepared, incase you get lost! Plus, water is just amazing and should be consumed at all times anyways!

4. Another valid excuse to wear workout clothes.

I don’t know about you, but I live in lululemon. So if I have another excuse to stay in their workout gear, I will take it!

5. Time to bond/gossip with friends!

You can cover so much gossip in one little hiking trip. The animals in nature don’t judge you for judging others and hey, it’s fun to catch up with friends.

6. You understand and appreciate the little things.

You take the time to stop and look at little things that you may not notice on any other day. Maybe it has to do with #1.

7. You get to appreciate natural beauty and see some great views.

It gives you the opportunity to appreciate where you are. Or, you can call it the ‘wow’ factor as in, ‘wow, I didn’t know we had such great views around here.’ …or maybe that’s just me (I obviously need to venture out more in my home area)!

8. You can come home and enjoy a great healthy lunch + a little dessert 😉

A little post-workout food and dessert…that you earned! It honestly tastes waaay better after hiking.

And this is what keeps me coming back for more!

Q: What are some of your favorite outdoor activities?

Great guest post, Char! I love hiking but haven’t done it at all lately. Thanks for reminding me how much fun hiking really is. The scenery is what gets me…so pretty! 🙂

  2. Loved this post! I wish I had more hiking trails to take advantage of around me 🙂

Favorite summer activities include biking, swimming, after-dinner-walks (which just might happen to end up at a froyo shop 😉 ) and barbecuing.

Hope you’re feeling better from when you were under the weather 😉
